Dental Implant

Dental implants for permanent tooth replacement

Dental implants are the closest you can get to your natural teeth when it comes to chewing function and aesthetics.

Initial examination and X-rays

At your first visit, the dentist will conduct a thorough examination of your teeth and jawbone to assess whether implant treatment is suitable for you. During the consultation, the dentist will take X-rays and inform you about treatment options and prices. The dentist will then collaborate with a surgeon to create a treatment plan.

Implant placement

At the next visit, the surgeon will prepare the site and place the implant. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia so you will not feel any pain.

Crown placement over implant

It takes approximately 2-3 months before a crown can be placed over the implant.

How long does it take?

You can expect between 4-5 visits for implant treatment. From the first consultation to completed treatment, you can expect it to take approximately 4-6 months. In some cases it may take longer. You will receive temporary teeth during treatment while waiting for the permanent ones.

Price

The price for a dental implant varies depending on the type used and how many implants you need. Typically, a dental implant costs between 18,000-24,000 NOK including X-rays, implant, and crown.

Helfo coverage

In some cases, Helfo will help cover the costs of implant treatment, making it up to 50% cheaper. Helfo provides support in the following cases:

Implant treatment abroad

Many choose to have implant treatment abroad as it is cheaper. Implant systems used abroad are often of lower quality and undocumented. This means there is a higher risk of complications and you must expect expensive maintenance and often redoing the entire work. If treatment goes wrong, you will not be entitled to Norwegian patient injury compensation for treatment performed abroad.

It is best to have implant treatment done locally with specialists who have extensive experience and use approved implant systems. We have extensive experience with implant treatment and only use original parts.

How long does an implant last?

Studies show that dental implants have a success rate of 90-95%. For the success rate to remain high, good hygiene and not smoking are important. You should also visit the dentist regularly for check-ups and maintenance. With good follow-up and routines, the implant can last a lifetime.
