Lost Filling

Dental fillings can fall out for various reasons. A filling can break or loosen because you chew too hard, there is decay in the tooth, you grind your teeth, or you bite down on something hard.

What you can do

• Book an appointment with your dentist: Don't wait too long. The risk of complications and costly treatments increases the longer you wait.
• Keep the filling: The dentist will assess whether it can be reused and placed back on the tooth.
• Remove food debris: Gently brush around the tooth where you lost the filling.
• Avoid worsening the situation: Don't chew on the side where you lost the filling.
• Reduce pain: Ibuprofen or Paracetamol can be used while waiting for the dentist.
